Judy Nightingale Person: Fine Art

ABOUT THE ART

Depending on the day, I may mix watercolor pigment, paper, and found objects to express political/historical events or the intricacies of natural forms or I may let pure watercolor express what is in my heart, mind and eye.
I have always loved "doing art" as well as getting my hands in the dirt, hiking, painting out of doors and now creating in my Ben Lomond, CA studio. I desire to transport you somewhere else using bold colors, textures, pattern…to help calm you or perhaps to puzzle and provoke you.
The cultural climate, the Sierras, the Pacific, the coastal mountains, Hawaii, and the wonderful possibilities of watercolor and paper all inspire me as do my years of being a psychotherapist, a volunteer in Yosemite and a watercolor and art journaling art instructor.
Throughout college and graduate school I pursued art classes alongside my training in psychology and psychotherapy. I continue to take art classes whenever I can. I credit the Santa Clara Watercolor Society, the Yosemite Conservancy, Bay Area Creatives, Cabrillo Community College and the Santa Cruz Art League and Mountain Art Center for pointing me to additional art instructors who have been instrumental in deepening my skill level in watercolor and mixed media.
